The best senior portraits are captured when you wear clothing that is comfortable and matches your unique style. That being said, most seniors include one traditional outfit (it will make Grandma happy).
Coordinate your wardrobe and bring some variety in your looks - skirts or dresses, pants, jeans, shorts, etc. Layered clothing is a great option. You can slip off a jacket or sweater for another quick look. Great shoes, boots, jackets, sweaters, hats, and other accessories can make your look exceptional! Accessories do matter! Plan your outfits!
Steer clear of too many busy patterns, bright colors, or busy logos. Consider bringing along several different clothing changes according to the session you choose. Adding or removing a jacket, changing into different shoes, or putting on a different shirt can change your outfit just enough to make it appear that you are wearing an entirely different wardrobe. PLEASE style your hair (no bed head) and be sure that your clothing is clean and ironed! Shoving a bunch of shirts in a grocery bag right before you come (yes, this happens) is not advised.
Get your beauty rest! Tired and baggy eyes will show up in the final images. On the day of your senior session, be sure to apply your makeup. This is a special day so make sure you put effort into looking your best.
Pay attention to small details. Schedule a haircut a week prior to your session. If you want a clean look, shave the morning of your shoot. Select bras that work with each outfit; avoid bra straps that show and keep in mind a dark bra will photograph through a thin, light colored shirt. Make sure footwear, clothes, hands and nails are clean and presentable. Don't forget the jewelry!
